The best vlogging lens for the Sony full-frame camera system.

I’m talking about a lens that you can use for selfie vlogging because when I was looking for a vlogging lens when I first got into the Sony system, nobody showed a lens. I was like, what millimeter is suitable for selfie viewing?

And I found that through trial and error and using different lenses, I finally found 16 to 35, which is an excellent range.

This 16 to 35 f4 is one of the best vlogging lenses possible for the setup, so why 16 to 35 millimeters?

It is simple: 16 is wide, and 35 is narrow enough for most Vlogging uses.

At 16 millimeters, it’s wide enough that you don’t need a screen facing you to know that you’re in the frame and that you frame yourself properly.

It’s wide enough to show everything you want in the background.

So, let’s talk about building an image quality to list off a few specs.

It’s a super sharp lens, and corner sharpness is pretty good.

The vignetting isn’t bad; the build is pretty incredible, like a complete metal construction. It’s lightweight and great for vlogging the sizes.

It’s not large, but it’s not tiny. It’s dust and moisture-resistant but not weather-resistant.

So, all in all, I’d say the build quality is exceptional. It’s nothing crazy out of this world, but it’s perfect.

I would wager to say that it’s excellent for dry landscapes, real estate interior shots, and real-world videography.

But the part where I care about more, I use this thing solely for vlogging and establishing wide shots of locations.

I’m glad to have this now because now we can get the wide-angle establishing shots and landscape-like shots.

So, being f4 is not going to be great for low light, and it’s not going to be remarkable for Super shallow depth of field, but you know, in counter to that, the depth of field isn’t that bad, especially if you’re vlogging you want to show what’s behind you.

You’re not trying to obliterate the background, but the fallback is that you will not have the best low-light experience.

So, this might not be your lens if you’re vlogging a lot at night.

If you’re going to get this lens, it’s a pretty niche lens.

Understand that if you’re using it for vlogging, it’s a particular thing you will be using it for, and they know that’s a lot of money to drop on.

But it performs when you need it for that purpose if you need a vlog and a lens for vlogging.

This is a perfect lens for it, and it will double up as the lens you use for landscapes, Astrophotography, and interior real estate shots, such as establishing shots for your video.

It’s peculiar, but if you put it to use, it will create some fantastic images.

Sony 28mm F2: (Best budget vlogging lens for Sony A7iii)

This is the lens that I use for all of my vlogs.

Now, why is this an excellent vlogging lens?

You might ask. Let me walk you through my thought process before I buy this lens.

I needed something small and light. I needed something that would have a wide aperture for low-light situations and an excellent shallow depth of field.

I needed a lens that would be wide enough to vlog on, and I needed something budget-friendly.

My biggest concern about this lens was whether or not 28 millimeters was wide enough to log on, and as it turns out.

28 millimeters is more than enough if you’re vlogging for yourself, but you have room for one or two other people in the frame.

But if you want more of that background, you will have to spend more money for a wider angle lens, but if you’re like me and you have no friends, then it doesn’t matter.

The autofocus performance on this lens is very snappy, and just as it snaps very quickly, I never need to worry about whether or not I’m in focus, and I haven’t had any focusing issues with this lens.

This lens is perfect for a small vlogging kit because it will not kill your arm while holding it.

Another reason why I love this lens paired with the Sony camera for video because you can crop in, and this 28 suddenly becomes a 42.

So even though you don’t have a zoom range, this is a prime.

You can still get two focal lengths out of this one lens, which is significant for video.

Even though I use this lens primarily for video and vlogging, I can use it for photos.

You can get some good pictures out of this lens.

However, I have noticed that the eye autofocus on this lens is not as snappy as other Sony lenses and is not the sharpest.

I have occasionally used it for portraits; I don’t use this for photos, although I have used this lens for client video work.

Do I think it’s worth the price?

I do; it’s not the most budget-friendly lens, but compared to the 16 to 35, it is significantly cheaper, it’s smaller, and the autofocus and performance are great for video.

So I’ve no complaints there. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of this lens.

Tamron 17-28mm F2.8: (Best third party lens for Sony A7iii)

I was super pumped because I have the Tamron 17 to 28-millimeter lens.

This is the first Tamron lens I’ve used with the Sony non-system.

This lens came out in 2019, and I’ve been fortunate enough to pair it up with the Sony A7iii.

First, let’s talk about some of the specs; this might be one of the perfect lenses for vlogging.

This lens has 13 elements in 11 groups and 9 round-after planes, which means you will get some nice bokeh balls in the background and give you some of that excellent blurry depth of field.

The autofocus on this lens is excellent; I am very impressed that Tamron is done.

I would say that autofocus is sharp, really crisp, and fast.

This lens has no image stabilization, so you’ll want to pair it up with a full-frame camera that has image stabilization, especially if you’re out there vlogging because otherwise, you’ll get some shaky footage.

When you pair it up with most of the new Sony full-frame cameras like the A7iii, that will have 5-axis image stabilization built right into the camera.

So it’s going to smooth out many of those jitters.

However, image stabilization inside the lens would help improve the image quality even more when shooting video.

This lens has a 67-millimeter filter thread, so you’ll get a 67-millimeter filter or step-up ring if you use this lens outside for vlogging.

This thing comes in less than a pound at about 14.8 ounces or 420 grams, and it’s a nice light setup.

It will be light enough to vlog with it without breaking those arms.

It’s also adorable, and it’s going to work well on a gimbal.

The bad news is that sometimes dust will get down into that chamber, and it could clog up that zooming functionality, but to me, it doesn’t matter if Zoom is coming out or in internal or external zoom; it doesn’t matter.

I will say I do like that when you zoom, it doesn’t change the length of the camera, and you can keep your hands very steady when using this lens.

I can tell you that I think it creates some fantastic images. This is my first experience using Tamron, and I’ll be frank with you.

I’m impressed; they’ve done a great job with this lens for a third-party company.

Many people rave a review about that 28 to 75-millimeter lens, and I would say that this 17 to 28 does an excellent job.

Now, the downside of this lens is it only goes to 28 millimeters on a full-frame camera.

One of the advantages is Sony full-frame cameras, which you can instantly turn into an APSC.

This is one of the best budget zoom options for an ultra-wide-angle lens you will find on the market.

It’s light enough to carry so you can vlog with it; it will give you some great images.

I would say this is an excellent lens.

I recommend picking this up and pairing it with a Sony A7iii; you will have one great Vlogging setup.

I’ve been using this lens for about 2 months now and using it with my Sony A7iii.

First, I can tell you that this lens is very light and compact now; it’s not achieved master lines, but it does a fantastic job with all my vlogging needs.

It’s compact, and it fits very nicely on the Sony A7iii. It also has a rubber gasket around the back, allowing for weather sealing.

I can tell you that this lens does a great job with vlogging, making it a tremendous full-frame vlogging setup.

The autofocus on this thing is perfect, fast, and reliable. You can trust that this lens will keep you focused while holding that camera out there.

The construction of this lens is pretty nice.

I wouldn’t use this lens for portraits; this is not a portrait lens.

It will stretch out the face and make it look a little weird when you get up close, and I wouldn’t recommend it for portraits.

You can throw this thing out of a gimbal.

You can get a wide shot of your wedding videography, which is nice.

If you’re looking to do talking head videos, you can use this to get a little wider and see more of the background scene; you can use it for that.

Zeiss batis 18mm f2.8: (Best Sony vlogging lens for A7iii)

Is the perfect vlogging lens, in my opinion? 100%. I enjoyed using this.

It gave an absolute path field of view, that autofocus so good.

It’s an entirely metal build, and there’s no plastic whatsoever.

The focus ring is a very smooth rubber, and while I’m on the subject of the focus, I love its source; to touch your finger, it just glides along.

This is a very lightweight lens, and it only comes in at 320 grams, which is good for vlogging.

It is friendly and easy on the hand, especially if you’re coupling with a gimbal. It’s got a very smooth focus ring.

That’s the main reason I love it; if you open it up, you will see it’s got a blue rubber gasket.

So, does that help with winter seeding?

It won’t be waterproof, but it will be pretty well splash-proof, and I love those gasket seals.

It’s sharp. I love the image it will render, especially with such a high-megapixel camera like the Sony A7iii; it’s fantastic.

It does suffer a bit from vignetting, such as being careful, but it’s straightforward, fixed lighting, enables profile corrections, and will be set in less than half a second.

As I said, the autofocus is top-notch; I loved using it.

If you move away from one subject matter and move back over, it’s a lovely, smooth graduation straight on.

I enjoyed using the lens; it was fantastic.

The quality of the images is just excellent.
