7 Best Smart TVs on a budget: (2023 Guide & Reviews)

Last Updated on November 10, 2022 by Sharon Advik

The selection of budget TV depends on how much someone is willing to spend and what specifications they are looking for.

Although most of the advanced technology comes in exclusive smart TVs, it doesn’t mean that cheap ones cannot afford to have a touch of premium quality.

TCL, Samsung, and Amazon are now listed as companies working on producing budget devices with top-notch user experience without devastating the bank balance.

Moreover, the question of budget devices has been asked many times on my YouTube channel, and being a lab tester, I try to give my viewers truthful information about budget devices.

After testing and comparing many devices, I have listed some of the best Smart TVs I have personally recommended to my family and friends.

Which are the Best Smart TVs on a budget?

Here are my recommended top 7 Best Smart TVs on a budget:-

TCL 6-Series 65R635 (2020): (best smart TVs on a budget)

First, I will tell you about my lounge’s exceptional budget smart TV.

I switched from simple LCD TV to a smart one about five years ago, I thought I liked all of the devices that I used to an extent, but still, the feeling that missing something was always present.

However, back in 2020, when I renovated my lounge, I decided to buy a 65-inch smart TV with great internals and an extravagant display.

Fortunately, the TCL-6 series 65R635 had just arrived in my lab, so after I tested all the features of this device, I was amazed by the results and the little money cost.

I then preached this smart TV for my lounge, and I am not planning on replacing this smart TV anytime soon.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 65-inch display is gorgeous for experiencing the latest shows and movies.

I have seen Stranger Things in season three, and the visuals of star court mall looked so full and vibrant on the screen.

The display supports BOTH HDR and non-HDR content, but the only issue I have faced so far is that I have to switch the setting from non-HDR to HDR content manually.

Resolution:

The 4 K resolution has its beatification while playing the content.

The details came out to be clean when Mind Flyer was attaching the kids during the final episode of Stranger Things 3.

I could upscale the stander HD content to 4k without significant issues.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

The screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, enough for casual gaming.

The charming display color and brightness are the Mini-backlighting that provides more precise focal-Array dimming.

I suggest the settings be at normal mode and the color plate “Warm” for better picture quality.

Apps:

I was able to assess almost all the streaming channels from Roku smart TV, and one of the essential things that makes me a fan of TCL is the bright TV screen that makes it easy to search and stream the content.

Conclusion:

No doubt that the TCL 6-Series 65R635 (2020) is one of the best smart TVs on a budget that offers various specifications.

The display technology and multi-entertainment if on-par.

The audio and port options are also awe-inspiring, but the only thing that I would want to upgrade is its gaming capabilities.

Samsung TU7000 (2020): (best Samsung TV on a budget)

Although Samsung has never been known for budget devices, they still pulled a striking TU700 series at moderate pricing.

The next budget device is Samsung TU7000 (2020), an exceptional choice to add to the guest room.

As I have mentioned above that, I have suggested these devices to people around me from time to time; Samsung was the one that I purchased for my ant.

The performance of the Samsung smart TV has come out to be outstanding; I haven’t been able to put it into the list of smart TVs with major cost-cutting features.

Although the company has ensured that the buyer is satisfied with the pricing, they also didn’t compromise on the quality; the Samsung TU7000 (2020) is the best Samsung TV on a budget.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 43-inch display does not support Dolby vision but has HDR, HDR Plus, and HLG.

What makes this device worth spending money on is Its HDR performance which competes with some of the expensive smart TVs.

I love the picture presentation of Fantastic Beasts: and the Crimes of Grindelwald to HDR content support.

Resolution:

The 4k resolution gives solid picture perfection, and upscaling simple HD content to 4k is impressive.

I played Eyes Wide Shut on this smart TV, and the pixel quality was up to the mark due to the 4k resolution.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

120 refresh rate is on par with the LED panel.

The LED screen quality is not comprehended with OLED, but the results of Rec 709 color space turned out to be 93.22 percent when I tested with SpectraCal CalMAN Ultimate software which gives a popped-up color accuracy.

Apps:

The Tizen operating system was one of the most praised smart TV software in 2020.

It has a quick search bar that doesn’t interpret the content being played on TV while I search for something else.

The TV also supports a wide range of streaming applications such as HBO, HULU, and Disney plus, but it doesn’t help peloton.

Conclusion:

Being a fan of the traditional Samsung interface, it is a delight to enjoy a budget Samsung device when people cannot afford to pay for great smart TVs.

If we ignore some minor bugs, the rest of the Samsung TU7000 (2020) TV is worth giving.

Amazon Fire TV Omni Series: (best 4k smart TV on a budget)

Amazon is a little late in the smart TV world, but it doesn’t make it an underdog.

I am a regular admirer of amazon products and how they strive to push the edgy technological aspect of smart gadgets.

I have made a whole series on Fire TV, but still, I could not hold myself to including Amazon in my budget smart TV devices.

Nonetheless, 4k is a stander resolution for smart TVs, and it works well, but subpixels still affect the overall picture quality, so not every 4k screen is level.

The Amazon Fire TV Omni Series is the best 4k smart TV on a budget because it doesn’t tether while giving the ultimate 4k resolution.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 65-inch smart display supports high dynamic range (HDR) content in HDR10 and HLG.

The display has Dolby vision.

In my brightness testing, the Omni received a peak brightness score of 333.653 cd/m^2, a little less reasonable with such a moderate budget.

Resolution:

The 4k resolution and pixel quality are my focus today because, as I have mentioned, budget devices often do poorly in upscaling the content and giving a grainy image, but Omni does none of that.

I played the 4k content of YouTube while, and the image clarity was excellent; also, when I played full HD songs, the 4k resolution handled the video quality with stride.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

The standardized refresh rate of 60 Hz comes with the 65-inch model.

The smart TV supports auto-low-latency but doesn’t support VRR, making it an underwhelming machine for gamers.

The color performance of Omni is on-par with good scoring when I tested on DCI-p3 in movie mode with an HDR signal.

Apps:

The Fire TV OS offers Amazon-specific streaming as expected, but it also has multiple options to select from HULU, Twitch, and live TV channels such as Pluto-TV.

I was able to see Marianne on Netflix. I also made calls through TV and contacted other Alexa users via Drop-in.

Conclusion:

The smart TV has a striking 4k resolution under an affordable budget, which is rare, and the input lag is low to enjoy casual gaming.

The display brightness could have been better, but the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series lits up as far as resolution, app features, and control system are concerned.

TCL 55″ Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Smart Google TV – 55S446, 2022 Model: (best 55-inch smart TV on a budget)

Onn. was not a very renowned brand for smart TVs until recently.

Honestly, I wasn’t aware of the technical specifications of Onn because I hadn’t had the chance to test the smart TV.

However, coincidently one of my friends had bought this device for his living room.

I visited my friend about two months ago when I first experienced the Onn.

Surprisingly, the device’s sharp display and overall alluring design were immersed.

After that, I was eager to test the machine, so I called for a 55-inch configuration.

It didn’t cost the lab anything, yet my YouTube video about TCL 55″ Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Smart Google TV – 55S446, 2022 Model, is the best 55-inch smart TV on a budget, went viral.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 55-inch display supports HDR10, giving crystal clear image eminence with maximum brightness to make the show luminous.

I enjoyed watching Next in Fashion on this display that heightened the patterns on the elegant clothing made by my competitors on the show.

Resolution:

The 4K (2160p) resolution gave the image striking fluidity and no noticeable blurriness.

Also, the ultra HD 4k took up the traditional HD content in a much more impressive way.

Moreover, I could see the details of Minju Kim’s wedding gown, which looked modern and aesthetic on the ramp.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

The smart TV is fortified with a 60 Hz refresh rate is a good margin for casual gaming, although I don’t think it supports a variable refresh rate because of the budget cutting.

Onn’s color accuracy is unmatched; the lush colors look more life-like than the mate once, but on the whole, I would rate its color saturation 8 out of 10.

Apps:

The TCL smart TV is supported by the Roku smart platform and offers an end-less streaming experience with more than 500000+ options.

In addition to traditional paid and free streaming apps such as Netflix, HBO max, and Peacock, it also has ESPN and Spotify.

On the other hand, I have noticed that some other budget devices don’t offer Peacock.

Conclusion:

I have listed the detailed review of the TCL 55″ Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Smart Google TV – 55S446, 2022 Model, and I am sure that no one would be able to resist this device while looking for a budget smart TV experience.

The brand took its efforts to another level by outfitting a 55-inch TV with decent features.

TCL 3 Series 2019: (best 32-inch smart TV on a budget)

People think a smart TV must be HDR-supported and have a 120 Hz refresh rate for a sturdy performance.

Yes, it is true in some cases, such as when the display is more than 40 inches or users need quality gaming.

But for casual use, such as streaming and browsing, adding a brilliant display in the room doesn’t have to be prodigal.

A decently sized and reasonably equipped smart Tv can do enough to provide entertainment.

So in the list of budget laptops now, I am introducing TCL 3 series 2019, the best 32-inch smart TV on a budget that is useable in kids’ rooms and a dining room for routine use.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 32-inch display is not HDR, but its results impressively bring out the screen’s brightness.

I played the Harry Potter trailer and the half-blood prince trailer on YouTube to see the luminosity, and it turned out to be pretty well.

Resolution:

Some people may think that 1920*1080p resolution does not have enough image clarity which is not valid.

I think 1080p resolution fits best the display size and provides a brilliant show.

The scene where Dumbledore repairs professor Slughorn’s house looks life-like.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

The 60 Hz refresh rate has a reasonable response time to adhere to casual gaming, and the LED display gives striking results on the color gamut.

On my testing of the panel’s color accuracy, The TCL 3 scored an impressive 98.2% of the sRGB gamut, which is much better than many budget devices that fall lower than 98% on the color gamut.

Apps:

The TCL 3 is backed up by Roku TV software, allowing the addition of preferred channels on the smart TV.

Several free and paid TV channels are feasibly accessed across the home screen.

The Automatic recommendation is one of my favorites that helps Roku recognize my play habits and suggest the intent accordingly.

Conclusion:

200$ isn’t a significant spare of money when a versatile device is bought.

I consider it the availability of entrained at its lowest price.

I compare the money with the outstanding features of this device with others I don’t see falling away from any modest, smart TV category.

LG OLED48C1: (best 48-inch smart TV on a budget)

This device was tested after many requests from my YouTube tech community.

LG is known for electronic devices, and people often think of buying one of LG’s smart TVs because of its stylish design and sharp displays.

I have used and tested many LG devices, but I never thought that a low-priced smart TV could throw unique features.

So after getting requests, I started analysis of the smart TV, which pushed away some of the smart TVs that come in the upper range category, then LG.

I have listed the results of significant features below so that it might help someone who is figuring out his budget to furnish his room with home theater experience.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 48-inch display supports HDR and SDR signals, but in testing, the HDR peak brightness is much better than SDR.

I also played some of the scenes from “Dark” before finalizing the test, and they were complimented by the display well.

Resolution:

The 4k resolution compliments the large screen and gives very sharp image clarity the only problem that may be faced by people who want to use this laptop as a PC monitor because it does not have text clarity the way one wants it to.

I am awestruck by the upscaling of 720p and 1080p content, which is decent, looking at upscaling of some other small screen and low-budget devices I have tested.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

120 Hz refresh rate with VVR support fills the gap between budget and expensive smart TVs by giving accurate motion pictures.

When I tested the OLED display on sRGB gamut Area ray in Picture mode, it gained 99.1% coverage, making color accuracy incomparable.

Apps:

With Google Assistant and Alexa, I could control the device smoothly.

The WebOS supports free LG channels and the most available streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon prime, and Disney plus.

Although I wouldn’t say I like the LG’s smart screen, which often obstructs the content, this little bug can be ignored, knowing that other features are the finest.

Conclusion:

The LG OLED48C1 is the best 48-inch smart TV on a budget with remarkable features.

It is a very competitive device for gamers with G-Sync and Free-Sync tec.

Also, everything gives more reason to purchase this smart TV, from its display to its core.

TCL 65R635: (best 65-inch smart TV on a budget)

It is a general notion that wider screens are more expensive and cost-cutting always affects the display size; well, I was also a believer in this false notion unless I used TCL 65R35.

This device cost only 600$ and its features are more than excellent.

From lab testing to the person-watching experience, I have never been disappointed by this device.

Moreover, whenever my cousins stay for a movie night, we like watching movies and playing games on this smart TV.

Apart from its attractive display, the gaming capability is also unique, making TCL 65R635 the best 65-inch smart TV on a budget.

Now let’s dig into some features for better understanding.

Features:

Size/HDR:

The 65-inch display is broader and brighter.

The streaming level goes to another level while watching the latest shows on this smart TV.

I have tested its brightness in both SDR and HDR, and the results are remarkable.

It gained a peak brightness of 700 nits with SDR and 1000 nits with HDR10 using a 10% stander window.

Resolution:

The resolution of this smart TV gives realism at its best with zero blurriness and graining or what I would like to be called pixel breakdown.

The upscaling of 720p and 1080p content to 4k works like magic on the TCL 6-series; although it is not a much-flittered view, the picture quality gets boosted tenfold.

Refresh rates, OLED/LCD/LED SCREEN:

The 120 Hz refresh rate, with the support of auto-low latency and fresh variable rate, gives swift motion while I play games or watch sports.

The screen colors looked intense, with an infinite contrast ratio.

I duly appreciate TCL’s mini LED technology because I never noticed any slothful reaction while movie scene transit enhanced and darkened.

Apps:

The Roku TV is continually appraised for its distinguished interference that gives access to the connection without messing up the screen.

I think TCL is the only company that cares about user ease; otherwise, I have seen intelligent screens of many other smart TV that interrupt the ongoing content to be able to search for others.

Also, the app selection is widest with Roku, including more than 500000 movies and TV shows that can be assessed by various streaming portals such as HULU, Disney plus, and HBO Max.

Conclusion:

I can’t stop liking the device whenever I learn about the new specs that come with this smart TV.

TCL 65R635 may be called a budget smart TV, but it is no less than a premium quality device with reliable features and a durable design.
