When I first pondered acquiring this Camera, I was apprehensive that it would not be as pleasurable as I had hoped.

“Canon EOS M50 Mark II,” which I bought with a specific objective: to record and capture images of my pets.

I’ve been so obsessed with it since I used it for the first time that I nearly always have it.

This Camera has indeed made my life a lot more fun.

Despite pet photography, I employ it in various other contexts and circumstances to examine its qualities, benefits, and drawbacks in greater detail.

Overview:

I got this Camera for pet photography, but using it in many diverse settings allowed me to learn much about it.

I became more knowledgeable about its features the more I utilized it.

It is, without a doubt, a versatile camera despite a few drawbacks.

It offers minor improvements over its predecessor but is more affordable and has better ergonomics and image quality.

I adored the upgraded Eye Detection, which now recognizes faces and eyes from a greater distance.

Now that Movie Servo AF is available, I may utilize Eye Detection throughout my video and during Servo AF to use both Eye and Face Detection.

I gain more adaptability and stability to keep the focus and center of attention on the subject(s).

I can shoot vertically in addition to horizontally when a different angle is required, and the Camera even provides clean HDMI output for high-resolution, high-frame-rate streaming.

The EOS M50 Mark II goes far beyond allowing me to scratch the surface of my vision regarding content, whether stills or video.

Although small, the EOS M50 Mark II has a robust and comfortable grip and is designed to resemble a mini-DSLR.

The controls for the Camera resemble those of its predecessor almost precisely.

I found the control dial, shutter button, record button, and M-Fn on the top right side of the Camera’s body.

Consequently, it is not difficult.

Along the right back side of the Camera are the remaining controls.

Using the touchscreen to alter my settings is often simpler because they’re relatively small and jammed together.

This is especially true with the tiny video record button flushed with the camera’s body.

While shopping, I know the Camera’s Size and weight.

The Canon M50 II measures 116 x 88 x 59 mm (4.57 x 3.46 x 2.32′′) and weighs 387 g (0.85 lb / 13.65 oz).

Canon M50 II is incredibly light for its class, especially considering the average weight of mirrorless-type cameras is 456g.

I decided to buy it first since I felt so light carrying the Camera and was confident I could take it anywhere.

Despite its typical thickness for its class of 59mm, it has excellent quality.

Easy Handling:

I can easily record videos using the touchscreen on the Camera.

I discovered that it was pretty simple to navigate the menu, which is set up similarly to other Canon EOS cameras.

Despite how light and small I found the M50 Mark II, the thick grip makes shooting with it very pleasant.

Its battery life is suitable for a day or more of photo-focused activities, and it is CIPA-rated to record 305 photographs on a single charge if I am solely taking stills.

But because the battery drains quickly, I should bring a spare if I intend to capture many videos.

Weather sealing:

I never stop shooting my pets because I adore them, mainly when they perform adorable acts.

However, I was disappointed that the Canon M50 II’s body lacked environmental sealings, so I had to take extra precautions to protect it from moisture and dust.

I was rather frustrated since I couldn’t shoot my peacock when he was dancing in the rain.

It must have a weather-sealing body to attack my pet in the mud, in a storm, or anywhere else.

I never want to stop hitting my pet.

Lenses:

After learning that this Camera lacks optical image stabilization and weather-sealing capability, I looked for some lenses that could make both of these tasks simple for me.

While browsing the internet, I realized that the Canon M50 II has an EF-M lens mount and that there are now 29 native lenses compatible with this format.

For entering the mirrorless market too late and not offering enough native lenses for the EF-M mount, Canon has come under fire.

Users of Canon M can utilize an EF-M adapter to use the full lineup of Canon EF and EF-S lenses with AF and image stabilization to help alleviate this issue.

I discovered six lenses come with optical picture stabilization because the Canon M50 II doesn’t have a sensor-based image stabilization technology.

I then went out and purchased a pair of these lenses.

Upgraded Dual Pixel Autofocus:

The ability to autofocus is one of my EOS M50 Mark II’s most significant improvements.

I also valued the ability to designate specific LCD regions as active to prevent accidentally changing the focus with the tip of my nose.

My astonishment at its dual-pixel autofocus is absolute.

I’m happy that my EOS M50 Mark II’s focus area is vast, measuring roughly 88% horizontally and 100% vertically.

I appreciate the fact that With the enhanced Eye Detection AF on my EOS M50 Mark II, I can swiftly and effortlessly capture my subject, even when it is far away.

When my subject’s entire body is in the frame, I use its Eye Detection AF to lock on the eyes from a greater distance.

Versatile LCD:

The 3.0-inch, 1.04 Megapixel Clear View LCD II Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD on my EOS M50 Mark II camera is lovely.

It is already bright, but I can turn the lighting up even more on sunny days to reduce glare.

Its flexibility and adjustable brightness make arranging and taking pictures from almost any angle simple.

It makes taking selfies with my pet effortless, and the LCD can be folded away when I’m not using it.

The 3-inch LCD articulates, swinging out to the side to face in any direction, making it excellent for taking selfies or viewing from other unorthodox angles.

It is already bright, but I can turn the lighting up even more on sunny days to reduce glare.

Changing settings quickly, viewing stills and movies, and even choosing an AF point are all features available on touchscreen devices.

Viewfinder:

The Camera also features an eye-level viewfinder, a must for many photographers.

The M50’s 2.4-million-dot viewfinder is slightly larger, 0.62x, and in line with others in the class.

It is more significant to the eye than the 0.51x optical finder Canon offers in their Rebel SLRs.

Its integrated electronic viewfinder simplifies taking photos in bright sunshine and in other circumstances where it could be challenging to see the LCD monitor.

This viewfinder offers 100% coverage and a resolution of 2,360k dots. 100% coverage guarantees that what I see while shooting matches exactly what I will see later in my image, assisting with accurately framing my photographs and reducing the need for post-processing cropping.

Swift Built-in Wifi Technology:

When I checked its Wi-Fi connectivity, I was overjoyed.

The EOS M50 Mark II camera makes the Wi-Fi® network connection quick and straightforward.

It enabled me to transfer my files immediately to a compatible smart device via the Camera Connect app and interchange data with other Wi-Fi® connected compatible Canon cameras.

I can share and upload content directly to websites like “image. Canon,” Facebook®, and YouTube®, as well as print straight to compatible wireless Canon printers, thanks to the Wi-Fi® functionality.

The “image. canon Service” piqued my interest because it promised to simplify my imaging routine.

Battery:

I was dissatisfied with my Camera’s battery life. Whenever I travel, I need to bring extra batteries for my Camera because this Canon M50 II is powered by an LP-E12 battery, which gives me a battery life of 305 shots, according to CIPA regulations.

Given that the average battery life of mirrorless-type cameras is 377 shots, I discovered that the Canon M50 II has a short battery life for its class.

Therefore, I decided to buy some extra batteries.

So, I can take shots of nearly anything without worrying about the battery draining.

Memory Card:
